BUR installation
BUR takes longer and requires a skilled crew. A base sheet is laid first, mechanically fastened or adhered to the cover board. A cap sheet or flood coat with gravel ballast is applied as the top surface.

If the cap sheet blisters or the top ply cracks, the three plies below are still bonded and waterproof. The roof stays dry while the defect is diagnosed and repaired.
Mechanical damage from foot traffic or dropped tools rarely penetrates all four plies. Thermal movement distributes across the assembly rather than concentrating at welded seams. The mass of the roof absorbs temperature cycling in a way that single-ply cannot.

Specify BUR when:
