The existing 20,000 sq. ft. roof at Sanyo Canadian Machine Works in Elmira had reached the end of its service life. Like many older flat roofs, it had become increasingly difficult to maintain, with leaks forming and energy loss through worn-out insulation.
Our objective was to replace the outdated system with a new, durable roof that would improve insulation, protect the building envelope, and help reduce long-term repair costs for the owner.

How We Got It Done in Just 7 Days
Step 1: Project PrEP & vacuuming
We began by thoroughly vacuuming the existing roof surface. This ensures a clean work area, removing debris and preparing the roof for a complete tear off.
Step 2: Complete Tear-Off
Our crew tore off the old, worn-out 4-ply BUR system.
Step 3: Poly Iso Installation
Next, we installed new polyisocyanurate (ISO) insulation. At Videl Roofing, we use a high-performance insulation is key to the roof’s long-term energy efficiency, creating a strong thermal barrier that reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.
Step 4: BASE Sheet Installation
With the new insulation in place, we installed the base sheet. This layer provides the foundation for the new BUR system, ensuring a uniform surface and acting as a critical component of the roof’s waterproofing.
Phase 5: Gravelling & FINISHING TOUCHES
Finally, the new roof was topped with gravel for added durability and UV protection.
